For the record, I got to the con without incident, although I was shaking so badly muscles in my face were twitching by the time I got there. Seriously. Me and highways do not get along. But I did get there, and got myself settled in a bit before heading down to con headquarters with
tryslora to help with setup and such. After eating some risotto, which was quite tasty, it was time for games.
Slot 1: Le Cygne: The Oracle's LightGMs:
immlass and
mcroft.
I played Maxim, the paying passenger on the ship who was on board because he had been told that it was going to Amber, and an oracle had told him he needed to go there. Along the way they ended up on an island where there was a different oracle... until she got killed. And some people seemed to think it must be Maxim's fault simply because he stole clothing from a nanny so he could wander around freely (men weren't allowed to). They quickly forgot him, though, as they schemed and plotted and tried to solve the mystery. Maxim snuck up to the oracle's tower, to the meditation room, and there had a vision that let him know that he needed to throw someone into the volcano to bring back the oracle. (He also discovered that it would not, in fact, kill a man to go in there.) He tried to convince the rest of the crew that they needed to throw the captain in, but they weren't buying it. In the end he threw the nanny in, because she had nearly gotten him in trouble because he stole her dress. What he didn't realize, however, until it was too late, was that he had made himself the oracle in the process. Oops. So everyone else sailed away, and Maxim is now the first male oracle on the island.
If I play in a Le Cygne game again, I've been told that I get first pick for a new character. :) And if I get the chance, I probably will, because I definitely had a good time. Even though I didn't manage to pitch the captain in the volcano. ::grins::
Friday was definitely my favorite day of the con. I had three great games in a row, and it was just wonderful.
Slot 2: Ashes of TimeGMs:
arcaedia and
trysloraFor this game I transfered my character from the TBR version of the Breakfast Club series, Bryony, because I didn't want to create a new one. I am apparently the first person to ever bring a character from one con to another. Go me!
The game started out a little slow for me, but as soon as they threw an innocent bystander in front of Bryony, she was hooked in... even though she didn't want to save Alyx, damn it! But Alyx was saved, and Bryony didn't have to kill her herself, because Matsuko (the innocent girl that Bryony was bent on saving) didn't get killed. In fact, she came back to Amber with them. So now I guess Bryony has a lady's maid or something? Hmm...
Slot 3: A Common DisasterGM:
trysloraIn this game we discovered that Anna is
so not good with the planning. She
did manage to get Caleb out of the dungeons, but probably at the expense of two guards' jobs. And she lost Caleb in the process. She also failed to kill Taggart, even though she had her hand in his body cavity. She followed Hawke around like a puppy, and then went with Hawke and Cadmus, where they failed to capture and kill Taggart. They're now all on their way to Amber to get Caine so they can all go, you guessed it, try to kill Taggart.
And Anna is pretty much on the edge of complete meltdown. God I love her. Dealing with her emotions is really kind of cathartic.
A wonderful game, and I'm so sad that there's really no chance I'll make it to TBR to play in the session there. :(
Slot 4: Game Two: Freeze TagGM: Rachel Holmberg
What a wonderful bunch of characters and players! We all really meshed, and watching the relationships between characters develop was great! And getting to fuck around with Evan's head is always a delight... why do I love to torture my characters so? Evan got locked in a band locker, his body taken over by an incredibly awkward Star Trek geek who went to the movies and made out with Trevor (played by
jvankirk, chased around after said geek (his name was William) and tried to fix his life because it was so fucked up, and became a murderer in the process.
And he still has no idea about the movies and making out thing. That's going to be such fun! And maybe next year we'll actually get to the plot! (We were having too much fun playing with the character relationships to pay much attention to it this time.)
Slot 5: Under a Tyrant's ThumbGM: Michael Kucharski
I played Kathleen, daughter of Caine, and self-appointed bodyguard of Queen Vialle and the heir to the throne, Morgan. Random got killed, and Vialle became regent until Morgan came of age, but he never got the chance. On his thirteenth birthday, Renard, son of Brand, who had killed Random, showed up, claiming that the throne should be his. To make his point, he killed Caine. Then he killed Caine's wife, my mother. Then he killed Morgan, right above me so that all of Morgan's bits got all over me. And then he killed Vialle.
And now, I think I'll kill myself.
This game was the start of a campaign, which leaves me in a tough position, because this is normally when Unto the Third Generation runs, and I am
not giving up Ophelia, but I don't want to give up Kathleen, either! I'm going to talk to Michael, because he wants to run it as play by email in between cons... so maybe he'll let me do the email bit, and not the con bit. We'll have to see.
Slot 7: VolunteerThis slot was spent down in con headquarters. Once again,
djinnthespazz joined me... and got no work done. But it wasn't my fault! People kept coming in. We learned all about poisonous plants. Did you know that undercooked red kidney beans can be poisonous? I think it's time to make my roommate some chili... ;)
Slot 7: Force 10 from Avalon: "...An Invitation to the State of Rigor Mort"GM:
kit_kindredI played Piers Gaveston, a relatively useless addition to the group, but that might have had something to do with the fact that I was half-asleep for most of the game. And once again he failed to acquire the Sword of Evil Doom. Too bad. :(
Slot 8: To Live and Die in TexoramiGM:
kit_kindredAh, Ambrose, the silent bartender. He's so much fun... even when he gets completely stumped as to how to communicate with someone because he doesn't talk and they can't read if he writes something to them. (He doesn't write often... but it doesn't do any good when he does, with Mongo.) He's now working at Daniel's bar, along with Mongo, who calls him Shy, and the crazy Chinese cook, who told him he needed to marry a female ox because it would be oxspicious. (Okay, that's not exactly what happened... but close enough!)
I left before the game ended, because I needed sleep. And nothing was going on in the bar anyway, the plot having gone elsewhere. But it was fun.
And then I had a minor meltdown, and got some sleep, and eventually headed home... but I've already talked about that. So... that was my con.
It was wonderful seeing people, and I can't wait 'til next year!
